Victim in Denver police brutality video speaks out (Video)

In July 2014, Johnson was working security while off-duty at The 1UP bar in LoDo, where Schreiber was celebrating a bachelor party for his brother.
Schreiber's brother had fallen asleep at the bar and Schreiber was trying to convince Officer Johnson, who had the brother handcuffed, not to take him to a detox center.
"And that's when Officer Johnson snaps," Schreiber recalled.A city surveillance-camera video shows Schreiber standing with his hands in his pockets when suddenly the officer lunges at him, violently shoving him backward to the ground.
"He spends 30 seconds hitting me in the face or neck with his forearms.  He turns me over and grabs my arms. I remember the feeling vividly, both my shoulders just tearing," Schreiber described. The attack left the physician's assistant with torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders. Now the officer has been suspended for 30 days without pay. He's appealing that punishment.

Troops referred to Ferguson protesters as 'enemy forces', emails show

image

As the Missouri national guard prepared to deploy to the streets of Ferguson last year during protests sparked by the shooting death of Michael Brown, the troops used highly militarised language such as “enemy forces” and “adversaries” to refer to citizen demonstrators.

Documents detailing the military mission divided the crowds that national guards would be likely to encounter into “friendly forces” and “enemy forces” – the latter apparently including “general protesters”.

A briefing for commanders included details of the troops’ intelligence capabilities so that they could “deny adversaries the ability to identify Missouri national guard vulnerabilities”, which the “adversaries” might exploit, “causing embarrassment or harm” to the military force, according to documents obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request by CNN.

NYC Protest Against Police Brutality Ends With Arrests, Assaults

At least three dozen people were arrested and two police officers were assaulted on Tuesday evening during New York's first major demonstration against police brutality since the killing of two NYPD officers in December. The march, organized by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, began at 2 p.m. in Union Square, with a reading of the names of people killed by police officers. Bedford + Bowery reports that Nicholas Hayward, whose 13-year-old son was killed in New York in 1994, was the first to address the crowd. "For the last 20 years, I have been fighting to get this case reopened, and I will continue to fight," he said. "We should not be out here today. Our ancestors already fought and died for the things that we are fighting for right now. Your life counts, your voice counts."

Pennsylvania officer charged with homicide after shooting caught on video

image

Video from a camera attached to a police officer’s stun gun shows how David Kassick died, authorities say: two bullets, four seconds apart, fired into his back as he lay face down.

Two months before a police officer was captured on video shooting a South Carolina motorist eight times in the back, Kassick was killed by a Pennsylvania officer who is now charged with criminal homicide.

“I think it would be impossible not to see some similarities between the two, inasmuch as the manner in which both individuals are shot,” said Christopher Slusser, a lawyer working for Kassick’s family who has seen the video in question.

Unlike the video in the South Carolina case, which has itself resulted in a murder charge, the footage recorded by Hummelstown police officer Lisa Mearkle’s stun gun has not been released. Attorneys for the officer want to keep it that way: they asked a judge on Friday to bar the prosecution from releasing it.

Police arrested 63 protesters in New York City on Wednesday during a march calling for justice for Freddie Gray, the Baltimore man who died of spinal injuries he sustained in police custody. About 1,000 people descended on Union Sqaure for a rally before continuing to move through Manhattan, blocking traffic and shutting down streets. The protest led to several small clashes with police. Meanwhile, protests in Baltimore remained peaceful. A similar protest in Denver turned violent when police were forced to use pepper spray on a crowd of demonstrators. Authorities arrested at least five of around 100 protesters gathering to protesting the death of Gray.

image

The Baltimore man who filmed the arrest of Freddie Gray, and who said police tried to intimidate him after he came forward, was himself arrested by police on Thursday, according to a report from Heavy.com.

Kevin Moore, 30, who was arrested with two others, was later released without charges. The two others, identified as “Cop Watch” members Chad Jackson and Tony White, remained in custody as of press time on Friday.

Like Ramsey Orta, the man who filmed the Eric Garner encounter with police and was later arrested on unrelated charges, Moore said he was afraid of police retaliation after he filmed the video, and said that police released his photo over the internet to intimidate him.

police brutality or reverse racizm.

the so called victims have made it a racial issue. The same old tired victim mentallity, blacks hating whites, but claiming the opposite. playing the race card as a crutch. keeping us living in the 60s.Well this is the 21st century.theirs not a racist hiding behind every bush or under every rock.their keeping their own race stuck in the muck and mire of the old south. which is mostly, long gone. The naacp is doing very little to help todays black people. Pocketing the money.Hollering racizm when there is none.So whoevers hollers police brutality or racizm,I just consider the source.
